We often come across a thought, what are the options available within the Cloud environment.  We think of technology which is still in its pre mature age, in terms of trust and market acceptability. Such questions are obvious and concerning in true sense. In this section we talk about cloud in different environment of Cloud computing available and will try to get you familiarized with them.

Public Cloud: –

One of the most famous and popular version of cloud computing, here user gets to work on the shared environment. However saying that doesn’t mean hardware or the security is compromised in any way. Users are opting for this solution as it is cheaper among others and bottom line is saves money.

Try understanding it with an example: – This is more like opting for a DSL/Broadband connection to meet your need of getting onto the internet and share the resource, rather going for a DSL – Dedicated end to end line from one location to another.

Don’t get confused with an idea of sharing; this is a concept of sharing the infrastructure and maintenance cost among the users utilizing the resources of that infrastructure in a much efficient way. No one will ever be able to access your environment and you cannot get into the others.

Private Cloud:-

As name suggests “Private” here we are sharing the infrastructure and rest of the services within the same organization.  Resource cost is at the higher end in comparison to Public or community cloud. Entire setup is isolated and managed for a single client or by a single client. It depends how it becomes feasible for companies opting for it, surly if your organization has large infrastructure need and want to make it more cost effective, then this is the one solution you should be looking out for.

(Ex:- This is like living in a separate apartment and bearing the cost all by your own.)

Community Cloud:-

The concept is to utilize the single set of Infra/Software/Platform resource by two or more companies

(Organizations), having common area of concern and services (IT, Hospitals, Banks, Sister concerns, parent companies, Hotels and groups… etc) sharing the cost and infrastructure among themselves.

Again the managing cloud can either be their IT or at service provider end, depending upon the choice.

Example:- This more like living in less crowded room and sharing the rent among the friends.

Hybrid Cloud:-

Another flexible approach given to the concept to sharing, here you can actually pick both public and private or Private and community or public and community cloud services, fitting best of your requirement. One drawback is it could be little hard to manage, while switching over the technology. Advantage is that you can have the redundancy created at a very low cost.

Hybrid is also a name given to the amalgamation of two technologies, where you have partial environment of your IT services already setup and running on Hardware (physical servers- Dedicated machines) and another half or partial servers on cloud environment.
